From the Great Global Adventure to the Great Wall of China

Global insurance and investment brand AXA has positioned itself as a thought leader in the graduate marketing arena after successfully launching the 2014 Great Global Adventurer game, on a quest to find the worthy winner of a once-in-a lifetime, all expenses paid trip around the world.

The prize was a first of-its-kind for students and recent graduates; offering them an exclusive opportunity to travel for up to 8 months, experience two six week paid internships at two international AXA locations, and the chance to involve themselves in a voluntary experience with one of AXA’s Corporate Responsibility partners.

The game received a fantastic response, with over 25,000 budding young adventurers playing across 204 countries and provinces. Lasting a total of 147 days, AXA received some incredible entries and there were some truly tough challenges along the way. But after several weeks of intense play, one deserving winner was chosen; that winner was graduate Will Moore.

Speaking of his plans for the experience of a lifetime, Will said:

“I’ve always had a bucket list of travel destinations such as the Great Wall of China, and it’s brilliant to now make them a reality. I’m incredibly excited to enter the world of work in a different country, and am very much looking forward to meeting current AXA graduates, and finding out what they have learned since joining the firm.”

Global Resourcing and Employer Brand Manager Hannah West, was thrilled with the success of the game: “AXA’s Great Global Adventure has been a tremendous success. This innovative digital game has helped to show AXA as a dynamic employer in a fast-changing environment.

It has attracted many talented students and graduates, and when we re-launch the game in 2016, we hope to attract even more.” The game also picked up two award wins at the Chartered Institute of Personnel (CIPD) Development Recruitment Marketing awards this year, for best use of Mobile and best use of Social.
