Our Graduate Commercial / Quantity Surveying Programme
Join our three-year graduate structured training programme in Commercial / Quantity Surveying and you’ll acquire all the skills, training and knowledge you need to achieve Chartered Surveyor status aligned to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) accreditation You’ll get to take up on-the-job training placements complemented by professional training.
We have several roles across our offices in England and this is a fantastic opportunity, to make your mark working on multi-million pound infrastructure projects, as you help develop our provision of expert commercial advice and support to internal clients. You’ll work closely with our commercial teams to enhance our commercial capability within the directorate and the wider Highways England organisation while improving the accuracy and consistency of commercial and cost data relevant to our supply chain and contracts. As well as working towards Chartered Surveyor status, you will oversee the financial and commercial governance of contracts and help manage contractual disputes and issues with suppliers. Whilst all the time practicing, utilising and building on the skills and knowledge you have acquired from your degree course and learning new skills and gaining valuable practical experience for your future career with us.
What we are looking for
We are looking for high quality and motivated graduates / post graduates who have completed or are about to complete a RICS accredited degree, ideally in Commercial Management and or Quantity Surveying, although other RICS accredited degree disciplines will be considered. You must hold at least a 2:2 honours degree or higher, or equivalent. This is supported by your ability to use and interpret general construction and civil engineering contracts, including NEC forms of contract. Your understanding of the commercial management and quantity surveying principles of high value construction contracts and the supply chain, along with your knowledge of relevant procurement and tendering techniques will be matched by a flair for using office software to maintain documents and spreadsheets. Meanwhile, your ability to communicate with staff and suppliers at all levels who have varying levels of technical understanding will make you stand out.
