Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) provides acute hospital and specialist services across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, serving approximately 450,000 people, a number which can double during busy holiday periods.
RCHT has three hospital sites; Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, St Michael’s Hospital in Hayle and West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance. We also have birthing units in St Austell, Helston and on the Isles of Scilly, as well outpatient services, including x-ray and ultrasound imaging, at community hospital locations.
There is a designated Trauma Unit (Emergency Department) on our Truro site and an Urgent Care Centre in Penzance. We are a rapidly expanding centre for research and a teaching hospitals trust allied to the University of Exeter Medical School and University of Plymouth Faculty of Health & Human Sciences.
One of the five largest employers in Cornwall, RCHT has approximately 5000 staff and a turnover of £370 million.
