Ocado Retail Graduate Programme

We’re a pioneering and award-winning independent retailer that is revolutionising the way the UK shops for groceries. With revenue currently growing at over 30%, there’s never been a better time to join us, working alongside a bunch of smart thinkers and “can-doers” with extraordinary drive, passion and talent.

What’s special about our programme?

You’ll complete a variety of placements right across our busy, buzzing Retail division, receiving training and development as you progress. We’ll give you an individually tailored support programme and, unlike some graduate programmes, you’ll be in a real job working with real people right from day one.

Potential placements:
Trading. How we choose the products that we sell and manage the commercial relationships with the suppliers who provide them.

Supply chain. How we work with suppliers to buy products into our Customer Fulfillment Centre.

Marketing. How we sell our service, and the media we use to do it.

Analytics. How we get an insight into the behaviour of our customer base.

Branding. How we create the look and feel of our website and how we speak to our customers.

As part of the programme, you’ll also gain valuable experience working in an operational environment – managing a team in our Customer Fulfillment Centre or Service Delivery operation.

What you’ll need to bring:
A degree. Although your subject isn’t important, having strong numeric skills is. You should have maths or a science at A-level or be able to demonstrate a numerate background.

Positivity. We need bright sparks who can, to trot out a tired old cliché, “think outside the box”.

Resourcefulness. Can you think for yourself and solve problems independently while working as part of a team? Strong written and verbal communication skills. Invaluable for getting your point across to your colleagues... or our customers.

Analysis. You’ll need to process and use information to make informed decisions. Negotiating skills. You’ll definitely need these when talking to suppliers. We can help you develop these skills, but you must have some aptitude for striking the right deal.

At the end of the programme: While a permanent position isn’t guaranteed, most of our graduates go on to take up full-time roles within our Retail division, for example as junior buyers, demand managers, marketing executives, or in our Customer Insight team.

We’re fast building a world-class business offering a world-class service to our customers. If you’d like to be part of this journey, please send a covering letter and CV to graduate@ocado.com.

Closing date: 14th March 2010.
