"I was lucky enough to get on a summer placement scheme with Deloitte at the end of my second year of university and haven’t looked back since. After completing my degree the following summer I joined Deloitte on a graduate scheme. 

 

I work in the indirect tax group, which exposes me to many different clients and industries. As it is mainly consulting work we carry out, there are plenty of opportunities to meet with clients. The work can be extremely technical and we often have to analyse legislation and case law to discover the solutions. Every day brings a new challenge and you never know which client is going to pick up the 

phone with a ‘quick’ question! 

 

Deloitte has supported me through all of my professional exams, providing all of the training and study leave required, which has lead me to recently completing my final exams to become a chartered tax advisor. 

 

There is an excellent ethos at Deloitte, which encourages a healthy work-life balance; you work hard when you’re in the office, but its quality not quantity that is important. I have been able to continue playing semi-professional football at a high level thanks to the flexibility the partners have given me. 

 

I would encourage graduates to look beyond the obvious roles that many firms offer. Try to find out more about specific jobs you are interested in, not just the firm. You will be surprised where you might end up!"
